Registering allows users to post stories, reviews, challenges, and other work, along with making users accessible to more features. Registration is not necessary for accessing stories or other public content, reading stories, and/or printing stories.

The following names are used in this document (the Terms of Service, ToS, etc.):

- We (referring to the staff and/or administration of Spiraling Stairways)
- You (the reader, user, and/or member of Spiraling Stairways)
- Spiraling Stairways (this site, its staff and/or administration, etc.)
- Rules/terms/numbers/etc. (the content of this document)

By registering at Spiraling Stairways, you agree to the following Terms of Service:

1. You have read through all rules/guidelines posted at Spiraling Stairways, including this Terms of Service page, the Submission Rules, and anything else that is made public via either the main news page or by other means. The site and its staff/administration cannot be held accountable for not alerting users of changes to any rules or other updates.

2. You are at least THIRTEEN YEARS OF AGE to comply with the COPPA Privacy Act. If you are not, you must show proof that a guardian is aware and allowing you to be registered at the site (signature, etc.).
   
   
3. You will not post any harmful, offensive, vulgar, or otherwise negatively classified material to this site. This includes but is not limited to spamming, abuse, and harassment.

4. Any action preformed is at the user's own risk. This includes clicking on links to outside sites. The site and its staff/administration cannot be held accountable for any harm to its members.

5. The site and its staff/administration are not responsible for any lost content. However, the staff/administration will try our best to not lose anything and keep backups.

6. Every piece of work submitted must comply with the Submission Guidelines.

7. The site and its staff/administration has permission to remove any story, author, or member that they find has broken a rule that warrants an extreme punishment. However, all original work is property of the author.

8. All rules on this site set by its staff/administration MUST be followed, including those for any partner sites.

9. There will be no taking any content without the creator's permission. See number 15 in this Terms of Service for further explanation on this rule.

10. Only one username per user is allowed. Any members found with more than one username may be punished. This, however, does not apply to co-author usernames, which are allowed on the agreement that both parties keeping the username state so in the profile.

11. Flaming in a review or by other means is not allowed in any form. Punishment may result.

12. Any email accounts or other information found inaccurate may result in punishment. A warning will most likely be given first, depending on the severity of the inaccuracy.

13. The site and its staff/administration will not give out any personal information to third parties. However, the staff/administration reserves the right to give out personal information to other staff/administrators.

14. Any public information given is at the user's own risk. The site and its staff/administration cannot be held accountable for any harm that is a result to this act.

15. Anything posted to this site that is not original work will be cited. The staff/administration cannot be held accountable for any copyright or other infringements. This includes any song lyrics and quotes. However, plagiarism of other work is not allowed.
    
    
16. All staff are volunteers, not actual staff, and will not be paid money for their work. However, the name 'staff' is more common and will continued to be used. The administration cannot be held accountable for any money allegedly owed for work done at this site or its partners.

17. These terms are subject to change at any time. It is the user's responsibility to be up-to-date with any and all changes to these Terms of Service. This rule is in addition to number 1 in these terms.

Any Terms of Service, rules, or other guidelines set by the site's staff and administration broken may result in punishment, including but not limited to the suspension of a user's account, ban of a user's account and/or IP address, and/or the removal of a user's account, work, and/or other content. A warning may be given if the situation is deemed worthy.

However, Spiraling Stairways will not punish in response to disagreements, upsetting situations, or general dislike. We will try to avoid as much drama as possible and unnecessary turns of events. If you feel someone on the staff/administration is being unfair, please don't hesitate to contact staff [AT] spiralingstairs [DOT] net.
